Iain got me this newish book called Wiccapedia: A modern-day white witch’s guide by Shawn Robbins and Leanna Greenaway. I just finished reading it. I’m still not altogether sure how I feel about it right now. Some parts were very interesting and I enjoyed them. Of course, other parts I just kind of rolled my eyes and skipped.
It obviously isn’t really a beginner’s book (or I don’t think it is). It includes the basics of moon phases and how to use them in spellcraft, candle magick, an interesting section on using your cellphone, email, and microwave for spells. They have sections on crystals and wish boxes, herbs and the essential witch’s tools. There is a short (less than 10 pages) section on Love magick which is followed by a section on Psychic abilities and Divination. Scrying with Crystal balls, Numerology, Dreams, Tea Leaf reading and Pendulums are all there.
To be expected they have the general warnings about ‘Do what thou wilt but harm ye none.’ at the end. I forgot to mention at the very beginning are the authors ideas of reincarnation, using angels in magick and Ouija boards. The last page has to little “Wallet Cards” that the reader can photo copy and stick in their wallet for money and luck.
After all of it and writing the above (it took me a while…the cats playing with a roach and my running away from said roach was distracting) I can’t decide how I feel. I do know I’ll keep the book for a while and maybe re-read some of the divination sections since I found them the most interesting. If anyone has read this book and wants to register an opinion I would love to hear it!
Blessed Be to everyone <3
